PAUL MCARDLE

GUITARIST | COMPOSER | PRODUCER

Rochester, NY-based guitarist, Paul McArdle, yields a passionate artistic voice as a professional session and freelance guitarist, composer, producer and educator. In addition to his active session work, he has composed and co-produced two self-titled recordings as a leader, As Is, and the Middle of Infinity, having collaborated with respected independent producers from New York to Los Angeles. An active performer in the region, he has performed at respected venues such as the Bitter End in New York, the Rochester, NY International Jazz Festival and the Syracuse, NY Jazz Festival. Affluent in various contemporary electric guitar styles including jazz, blues, rock and fusion, his emphasis is to present integrated, adaptive, and contemporary electric guitar concepts with creative praxis.

"I believe still that the mark of a true artist is to be honest with yourself in the art you create, and it seems that at times, you have to forget yourself in order to find out who you are in the art created. Whoever that is is really all I have tried and want to be, and all I want to pass on. The pain it takes for art to be true will always keep it alive, and what better dignity than this. This, then, may be the only measurable aesthetic: serving the justice owed to how we express the parts of our lives we don’t, and may never understand, in order to become who we are meant to be."
